WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — As Williston's population continues to grow, so too does the need for efficiency within the city's emergency services. This week, the Williston Fire Department announced its plans for a new response model to ensure that their priorities are straight for emergencies across the city.
Local leaders say that as more people have moved in and population numbers keep going up, the department has struggled to keep up with their own staffing and resource needs.
"Every year, we look at our response model and how we can most efficiently respond to calls," assistant fire chief Corey Johnson said. "What we've seen, really since the boom started in Williston, is that we've had a rising call volume percentage. Every year, the call volume goes up, we're responding to more calls.
