A 15-year-old girl was raped at a popular park in Dorset.

The attack took place in the children’s play area in Poole Park on Thursday, September 25.

Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody.

Detectives said the suspect was not local but from 120 miles away in Carshalton, south London.

A cordon has been placed around the playground while forensics officers carry out their examinations.

There are also increased patrols in the area. A police spokesperson said: ‘Dorset Police received a report at 9.57pm on Thursday that a 15-year-old girl was raped in the area of Poole Park by a man she had met earlier in the evening.

‘A detailed investigation into the report is being carried out by detectives and specialist officers are supporting the victim.
