TOWN OF WIOTA, Wis. (WMTV) - A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries after hitting a deer and being thrown from his vehicle, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said they received a 911 call for a single-vehicle crash with injuries just before 11 a.m. Saturday morning. The crash happened in the 10,000 block of CTH N in the Town of Wiota.
Investigations into the crash showed that 65-year-old Danny Burkhalter of South Wayne, WI was traveling southbound on CTH N on a 1988 Harley Davidson motorcycle, before hitting a deer.
Burkhalter was thrown off the motorcycle and came to rest in the road along with the vehicle, according to officials. He had life-threatening injuries and was taken to UW Hospital by UW Medflight.
