CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - Bond has been denied for the suspect in a deadly hit-and-run that happened at S.C. Highway 174 and Pine Landing Road on Edisto Island on Saturday night.

A crowd of family members of the victim attended the bond hearing in Charleston County on Monday morning. Two family members spoke of their grief after John Singleton’s death.

“He was taken from us; he didn’t deserve it,” Danielle Singleton, niece of the victim, said.

In court, a sheriff’s deputy said the suspect kept driving, after hitting him, about 3.3 miles down the road before she was stopped.

“How do you just leave him in the ditch? I don’t understand that. I don’t feel sorry for you, whatever you get you get,” Jerome Singleton, brother of the victim, said.
