SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — In response to the City of Springfield's updated land development code, city leaders are revamping the entire zoning district process.

The move will narrow down 25 different zoning districts to 14.

"The hope is that it'll make it simpler, clearer and easier to understand," Justin Crighton with the City of Springfield said.

Crighton says nearly 70% of property owners will likely see no changes.

"Our residential manufactured housing community district, government/institutional, center city, heavy manufacturing districts, in total, about 70% of the overall property in the city is zoned one thing and it will be zoned after translation in the same district.
