LEMOORE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Residents in a Lemoore neighborhood reacted to a deadly shooting involving a police officer.

It happened inside an apartment near Janine Way and Blake Street.

Matthew Miller says he lives right across the street from where the shooting unfolded on Tuesday.

"I've been here for a little over a year," he said. "Just been a few months ago, there was a shooting on the other side of the complex where a guy got hit with a stray bullet and ultimately died."

Lemoore Police say an officer arrived at the apartment complex at around 1 p.m. for a call about an assault in Reno, Nevada.

Investigators say police fired shots at the man who reported the crime after he took out a knife and moved towards the responding officer.
