BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Bridgeport Police Department officials said that crime in the city is down this year and they have the statistics to prove it.

A report from Bridgeport police on Wednesday showed that the number of murders, sexual assaults, robberies, burglaries, shootings and total crimes in the city are all down compared to this time last year.

Through three quarters of 2024, there were 10 murders reported in Bridgeport. During the same amount of time this year, there have only been two homicides. That’s an 80% decrease, according to the police department.

At this point last year, there were 50 sexual assaults in the city. To this point in 2025, there have only been 29 of these crimes. Bridgeport police said that’s a 42% drop.
