MADISON (WKOW) — Senator Kelda Roys (D-Madison) has introduced the SWIFTIE Act to tackle issues related to ticket scalping and inflated fees.

The legislation, announced Thursday, aims to protect fans from unfair ticketing practices and ensure live events remain accessible. In this bill, SWIFTIE stands for Stop Wildly Inflated Fees and Ticketing Industry Exploitation.

"Live events are one of the great joys of life," Roys said in a statement. "If you are a fan, you deserve to go see your favorite artist or sporting event without being exploited by unscrupulous scalpers."
