Pubgoers have been left heartbroken after a much-loved historic hotel closed its doors.
The Huntsbury Hotel in Lewisham, in Sydney’s inner west, has shut down after standing for more than a century, its beer supplier Grifter confirmed on social media.
“It’s the end of an era!” the craft brewery wrote.
“After many years and games of pool atop some of the classiest carpet in the Inner West – nay, the country – @huntsburyhotel are finally closing their doors.”
The Victorian-era pub, built in the 1800s, was one of Sydney’s oldest hotels and a local landmark on New Canterbury Road.
It was known for its cheap meals with free drinks, retro vibe, and interiors decked out in dark wood panelling and patterned carpet.
