AUBURN, Neb. (KOLN) - A teenage girl died following a crash outside of Auburn early Friday morning.
At 6:42 a.m., Nemaha County 911 received a call of a truck that had gone off the road and caught fire. First responders responded to the scene where they discovered it was a two-vehicle crash.
According to the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department, 17-year-old Ren Avery of rural Humboldt was traveling northbound on 634 Avenue, crossing Highway 136 when her Ford Explorer was struck by an eastbound Freightliner box truck driven by a 30-year-old Miami man.
Deputies said Avery was declared dead at the scene, and the truck driver did not sustain any injuries.
Johnson Fire and Rescue, Auburn Fire and Rescue, the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department and Nebraska State Patrol responded to the crash.
