A Chattanooga woman previously arrested with another person for having $51,000 of methamphetamine is facing more charges after a deputy found drugs in her car during a recent traffic stop.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said a deputy pulled over Tonya Goins, 51, on Friday in Soddy Daisy after seeing what appeared to be an altered license plate with an illegible county line.

Both women were charged with Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

She told them it was just faded, and that she did not live in the area but was going to take care of her mother, who has cancer.

While interviewing Goins, the deputy got her to step out of the vehicle. She was carrying her purse.
