RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was hospitalized after he was shot in the neck near Gull Lake, deputies say.

Just after 11:15 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office were called to an address on East D Avenue in Richland Township for a report of a shooting. Arriving officers found a 65-year-old man who had been shot in the neck.

He was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital. His injury is not life-threatening, deputies say.

A suspect was identified and the weapon was recovered, the sheriff’s office said, although it did not release any information about the suspect. It's not clear what led up to the shooting.

The shooting is still being investigated. Once complete, the investigation will be sent to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
