The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal in Regina has dismissed an appeal from Travis Patron, upholding his conviction for breaching a probation order that was imposed after his 2022 conviction in the Estevan Court of King's Bench for wilfully promoting hatred.

The province’s top court rendered its decision on October 3rd, finding that Patron’s arguments had no legal merit. Patron, who represented himself, also had his request for leave to appeal his sentence denied.

The breach of probation charge stemmed from an incident on July 29th, 2023. While on a one-year probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, Patron verbally and aggressively confronted a woman on the street because her skin colour was different from that of the child in her care.
