SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A North Sioux City, South Dakota, veteran and his dog have found a unique way to give back to other veterans in their hour of need.

Ralph Webb and his dog Walker are using pets and pins to honor those veterans. They spend their time at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s in Sioux City giving their gratitude to veterans during some of their hardest days.

“Back when I came back from Vietnam, we were not treated very well as veterans,” said Webb.

Webb served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1975, working in naval intelligence. A time, Webb says, wasn’t great for veterans coming home from the service.

“A good period of my life, probably 10, 15 years or so, I didn’t identify with being a veteran,” said Webb.
