LANSING, Iowa — The Iowa and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation have announced the closure of the Iowa 9/WIS 82 Mississippi River bridge, also known as the Black Hawk Bridge, on October 20. This closure marks the beginning of a new phase in the construction of a replacement bridge , with completion expected in spring 2027. To maintain connectivity across the river, a free car ferry service will begin in early November, as confirmed by Iowa DOT Director Scott Marler. “We are very pleased that federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the city of Lansing, could work together and quickly approve the necessary steps to allow us to provide this critical service,” stated Iowa DOT Director Scott Marler. “These approvals will allow us to instal
