This year’s theme for Langley City’s Fire Prevention Week (FPW), “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home” teaches residents how to buy, charge and recycle lithium-ion batteries, found in everyday devices like phones and laptops.

“Lithium-ion batteries are powerful, convenient, and they’re just about everywhere, from phones and laptops to power tools and toys,” said Captain Bob Perry, Fire Prevention Officer.

“But with that convenience comes risk. This year’s campaign is about helping residents recognize those risks and take simple, practical steps to prevent fires in their homes. Fire safety starts with awareness,” added Captain Perry.

Fire safety related events will happen throughout the week.
