RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State Senator Norman Sanderson Jr., who represents Pamlico County, was arrested Saturday in Wake County and charged with driving while impaired, according to court documents.
A magistrate’s order filed in Wake County District Court shows Sanderson, 74, was charged on October 18, 2025, with three misdemeanor counts:
Driving while impaired
Driving with an open container after consuming alcohol
Failure to obey a traffic officer
The alleged offenses occurred on Edwards Mill Road in Raleigh. Sanderson, a Republican, has served in the North Carolina General Assembly since 2013, representing Pamlico, Carteret, and Craven counties.
