SPRING VALLEY -- The long drought is over.
Not the lack of rain in the Tri-State. The month-long winless streak in Spring Valley boys soccer ended Thursday with a 1-0 triumph over South Charleston in the Class AAA Region 4 tournament first round at the Wolves Den.
The victory was the first since Sept. 23 against Capital for the Timberwolves, who have gone 0-3-3 since then.
Filip Jessen scored off an assist by Oscar Rojas at 43:19 for the lone goal. Rojas dribbled down the right wing before sending a diagonal pass to Jessen on the left side. The junior put ball in goal just past Black Eagles keeper Nicholas Devine for the game-winner.
