The family and friends of slain Clunes teacher’s aide Hannah McGuire are set to face her killer in court.
Lachlan Young, 23, is listed to appear in the Victorian Supreme Court in Ballarat on Monday for a pre-sentence hearing over Ms McGuire’s murder.
The hearing comes after Young abruptly changed his plea from not guilty to guilty eight days into a murder trial on July 18.
He had offered to plead guilty to manslaughter at the start of the trial, a plea that was flatly rejected by prosecutors in the case.
Young murdered Ms McGuire at the home they once shared before taking her body to nearby bushland off State Forest Rd and torching the car on April 5 last year.
Previously, a court was told the plea hearing was expected to take two to three days – not because of significant issues stil
