BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The New Orleans Saints offense continued its struggles against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, resulting in quarterback Spencer Rattler being benched in the third quarter in a 23-3 loss Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.
After a four-turnover performance in Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, Rattler continued to struggle. He fumbled on the Saints’ first possession and then, in the second quarter, threw a pick-six to Tampa Bay’s Anthony Nelson, his sixth turnover in six quarters of play, to put the Saints down 7-0.
Rattler finished his day going 15-of-21 for 136 yards, with 3 sacks, an interception, and a fumble, while rushing for 12 yards. He was benched in the third quarter for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough.
