HARTFORD, Conn. — People who rely on SNAP benefits are being told to use them by Friday; after that, it's unclear when they will get them again.
The Trump administration said that on Nov. 1, there will be no federal food aid, which means SNAP benefits may soon be off the table for the one in eight Americans who use them. With no end to the shutdown in sight, people are upset.
“I never thought it would come to something like this,” said Nora Shahine, who was on SNAP growing up. “There was always food in the house. It made me feel the same as other kids who were more fortunate.”
According to a statement on the U.S. Department of Agriculture 's website, “The well has run dry” as far as funding goes to continue SNAP benefits starting Nov. 1.
