RUTLAND, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - In Rutland, a family honored their grandfather who passed away in March with a unique idea: a plowing bee.
Roger Olson was a man who his family describes as humble, friendly and always willing to lend a hand. He cherished making friendships with his neighbors and serving his community. He served his country by joining the South Dakota National Guard and he served his community on his church’s council and the Rutland Township Board.
“Everybody’s got a special person in their life and Grandpa Roger was my, I guess, special person,” Roger’s grandson, Ethan Vander Wal said with a smile. “He was always somebody you wanted to be around.
