A 'boil water advisory' for thousands of Veolia Water Delaware customers has been lifted.
Repairs were completed to a large water main break Sunday, but customers were still advised to boil water before drinking it, brushing teeth or for several other purposes. Monday afternoon, Veolia says all water samples have met drinking water standards, and affected customers in the Newark, Bear, Christiana, Brookside and New Castle areas no longer need to boil their water.
The advisory was put in place Saturday night due to low water pressure, and affected about 50,000 customers. Veolia said the advisory was issued Saturday out of "an abundance of caution."
