UPLAND, Calif. (KABC) -- A wild motorcycle chase ended in a violent crash on the 210 Freeway in Upland Monday afternoon as the suspect was attempting to flee at extraordinary speeds after fatally shooting a sheriff's deputy in Rancho Cucamonga.

The chase ended after an off-duty sheriff's deputy conducted a "legal intervention" and hit the suspect's motorcycle.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call at the 12300 block of Hollyhock Drive in Rancho Cucamonga, just north of Victoria Gardens. The suspect immediately opened fire and struck Deputy Andrew Nunez in the head .
