MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - Mulberry Creek Assisted Living recently announced it will be closing at the end of the year due to financial struggles.
“We’re heartbroken,” said Mary Ferrell, Kissito Healthcare Vice President of Operations. “They’re heartbroken. The employees are heartbroken.”

Now, five years later, they’re facing the difficult decision to close.
“We’ve been blessed to have a fantastic team of caregivers there. That’s not the issue. Operationally, we just can’t stay open,” said Ferrell.
The assisted living facility is home to 37 seniors.
