ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -- An Atlantic Beach strip club is suing the town for the second time in as many months, this time asking a judge to block a new zoning law from taking hold.
And fired police chief Carlos Castillo in the same complaint says he was let go for not implementing "targeted enforcement efforts" to bolster claims by town officials that the property was unsafe.
Town leaders on Sept. 22 approved a strict set of guidelines for sexually oriented businesses, including setting an initial $200 licensing fee and then $100 annual renewals. It also gives inspectors the right to conduct spot visits.
Town Manager Adrian Jones said in a text on Monday he couldn't comment due to pending litigation and referred News13 to Atlantic Beach's legal counsel.
