For years, the Barrington High School homecoming parade featured cars and trucks rolling along the asphalt landing in front of the Victory Field bleachers. Students wore costumes, carried signs and tossed candy to the fans filling the stands.
But this year, George Finn, the director of athletics and student activities at Barrington High School, faced a new challenge for homecoming: the brand new field and track construction had cut into the space between the bleachers and the fence surrounding the track. There was simply not enough room for a parade of cars and trucks.
Days before the event, Finn said he had a plan for homecoming, and on Friday night that plan became clear: golf carts.
