BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The North Dakota Department of Commerce is launching a new grant meant to drive economic growth in rural parts of the state.
The Rural Catalyst Grant is being launched after the state legislature approved $2.5 million to be distributed to rural communities. This is part of a recent push to increase the amount of support given to people living in rural areas across North Dakota.
Initially, the legislature aimed to approve the transfer of $5 million from the strategic investment and improvements fund, but after the dollar amount was cut in half, Senate Bill 2390 passed both chambers with more than 80% of the votes.
