BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The North Dakota Industrial Commission has approved more than $45 million in grants during the 62nd round of the Oil and Gas Research Program.
The commission, comprised of Governor Kelly Armstrong, Attorney General Drew Wrigley, and Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring, approved $45.1 million to be used for projects that enhance oil and natural gas production in the state.
The program is funded by oil and gas production extraction taxes, and those who apply for a grant are required to match 50% or more of the funding awarded.
The 69th Legislative Assembly added $25 million to the program for projects related to Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), which refers to methods to extract crude oil after primary and secondary methods are exhausted. It involves fluids or gases
