BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) -- Halloween is right around the corner, and staying safe while trick-or-treating is the biggest treat of all.
According to the Bloomington Police Department, 43 percent of pedestrians are more likely to be struck by a car on Halloween, making safety a top priority.
"What we really want people to remember is that when you're out driving, stay alert. Stay focused on the roadway and the surrounding areas, and make sure to keep your eyes open for, you know, pedestrians that might be crossing the road," said Bryce Janssen, public information officer for the Bloomington Police Department.
To stay safe while out and about, ensure you only walk on sidewalks and use crosswalks to cross the road. Using reflective clothing and items as well makes it easier for drivers to
