Cole County Sheriff's Office deputies will conduct compliance checks for the 149 registered sex offenders on Halloween evening, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Office news release.

Any person registered as a sex offender as of Aug. 28, 2008, to present date must comply to specific restrictions on Oct. 31 under Missouri law, according to the news release.

The restrictions consist of:

Having no Halloween-related contact with children

Remaining inside their residence starting from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., unless required to be elsewhere for just cause, such as employment or medical emergency

Keeping all exterior residential lights turned off after 5 p.m.

If these restrictions are violated by a registered sex offender, a Class A misdemeanor will be charged against the individual under
