COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — An adult female was injured in a drive-by shooting in Colleton County on Tuesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:12 a.m. in the 500 block of Quail Drive. The Colleton County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) responded to the incident and found an adult woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Officials said she was in serious but stable condition.

The investigation indicated that a vehicle was traveling on Quail Drive towards Walterboro when shots were fired at the woman's vehicle.

Officials believe this was a case of mistaken identity and that the victim was not the intended target.
