COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities in Colleton County are investigating a Tuesday morning drive-by shooting that left a person injured.
Deputies with the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office responded to Quail Drive shortly after 5 a.m., where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
According to the sheriff’s office, a preliminary investigation found that a suspect fired at the victim’s vehicle while she was driving on Quail Drive heading toward Walterboro.
“At this time, investigators believe this was a case of mistaken identity and that the victim was not the intended target,” the sheriff’s office said.
