BUXTON, N.C. — Five more homes have collapsed along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, according to the National Park Service.

Two of the homes, located at 46002 Ocean Drive and 46223 Tower Circle Road, fell into the ocean around 10:45 and 11 a.m. Tuesday. Then, around 12:45 p.m., the house at 46003 Ocean Drive collapsed, followed by a home on 46016 Cottage Drive around 1 p.m.

At 4:30 p.m., 46213 Tower Circle Road collapsed.

That makes nine Outer Banks homes to collapse in October , marking a total of 27 that have collapsed since 2020.

All homes were vacant at the time they fell into the ocean on Tuesday.
