BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — For this edition of Winter Weather Awareness Week, we will examine some tips that you should keep in mind when enjoying the great North Dakota outdoors this winter.
First and foremost: when venturing outside, layer up! Once temperatures drop below zero, try to wear at least three layers over your body and protection for your head, including: • A thermal under-layer for your torso and legs • An insulating outer layer to keep out the wind and snow • A face covering, such as a scarf • A warm hat that covers your ears
Do whatever you can to retain body heat!
Waterproof boots and thick socks will help with the snow as well. Tennis shoes won't be enough for the cold slush.
If it's going to get really frigid — which is a lofty statement by North Dakota standards
