The Egan Civic and Convention Center in Anchorage will close its doors as a temporary shelter on Tuesday.

Beginning Wednesday, November 5, non-congregate shelter services will move to the Spenard Community Recreation Center at 2020 W. 48th Avenue. The facility will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., providing temporary housing for individuals displaced by the October 2025 West Coast Storm.

Officials say the center will serve as a short-term pass-through location while evacuees are placed into longer-term non-congregate housing. Individuals in need of shelter or temporary lodging are encouraged to call the non-congregate shelter call center at 907-759-6927, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
