Jennifer Lawrence has shared her take on working with director David O. Russell, offering a very different perspective than Amy Adams, who once said the filmmaker’s behavior on set left her in tears.

Speaking on The New York Times’ The Interview podcast, the 35-year-old Oscar winner described Russell’s notoriously intense approach as direct rather than demeaning.

‘I really felt like with David that was his way of communicating in a non–bull***t way,’ Lawrence said.

‘I never felt like he was degrading or yelling at me. If he didn’t like something, he was just like, ‘That was terrible. Looked like s***. Do it better And that was a very helpful conversation.”

Lawrence, who was only 23 when American Hustle was filmed in 2013, said she was largely unfazed by Russell’s methods.
