CORNING, N.Y. (WETM)---The City of Corning has made history by electing its first female Mayor, Pam Walker.

Walker has plans to continue the city's growth while also preserving its traditional sense of community.

"We have a great sense of community and we want to keep building on that and make sure that's solid and secure for the future, but at the same time, the world around us is changing, industries change, businesses change," said Walker.

Mayor-elect Walker says deciding to run for mayor was not an easy choice.

I think it's a big step for people to say yes, I can do this, and I want to put myself out there, and it certainly took me the better part of the year to decide it was something that I wanted to do," said Walker.
