Man, woman shot as bullets spray Alcy-Ball apartment with four children inside, MPD says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A man and a woman were injured after gunfire erupted early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex in the Alcy-Ball neighborhood, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), the bullets also struck a unit at the Hillview Apartments that had four children inside at the time of the shooting. The complex is located just off East Alcy Road and Airways Boulevard.

The shooting was reported just before 1:45 a.m. Wednesday. A woman told investigators that she was returning from the store when she opened her car door and found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his thigh.

The woman told investigators that a car pulled up and someone from inside picked up the man. Investigators later learned that he was dropped off at a fire station; the man's
