CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The lawyer for a Detroit man convicted of murdering two Harrison County residents plans a legal challenge of the state's bid to hit the defendant with a three-strikes felony finding.
Allen Leon Schaffer, 44, was convicted earlier this year of two counts of second-degree murder, two counts concealment of a dead human body, one count possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and two counts use or presentation of a firearm during a felony.
Represented by Clarksburg attorney Sam Harrold III, Schaffer admitted Thursday he was the same man convicted in Michigan of manslaughter, in 1999; of assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault), in 2016; and possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine, in 2020.
