EUGENE, Ore. – Motorists should avoid the area of Lincoln Street to Van Buren Street near West 3rd Street due to a train emergency in the area, according to the Eugene Police Department.
EPD officials said that a Union Pacific Railroad train performed an emergency stop to avoid hitting a person pushing a wheelchair. The train is broken and sitting on the track, blocking Lincoln to Van Buren near West 3rd Street, police said. Authorities said repairs to the train are expected to take at least an hour and a half and motorists should seek alternative routes through the area.
The pedestrian was not harmed and continued walking northbound on Lincoln Street, Eugene police said.
