Boone County Animal Care is raising funds to establish a no-kill animal shelter in Boone County.

According to a news release from Boone County Animal Care, the fundraising goal is $3 million, which would be used to purchase property, build and equip the shelter, and establish operational funding.

Boone County Animal Care is a Columbia-based nonprofit that currently offers foster care services for cats.

With the new shelter, Boone County Animal Care would accept all animals from Boone County, according to the news release. The shelter would include more space for animals, fewer cages, cat colonies and dog play groups.
