TIOGA COUNTY, Pa. (WETM) – A new pilot project has launched at the Northern Tioga School District (NTSD) through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) to better serve students learning to drive in rural areas.
On Thursday, Nov. 6, PennDOT announced the launch of the pilot program, which has been designed to provide more convenient access to learner's permit testing for students who live far away from a DMV. Through PennDOT's partnership with the NTSD, the program will see a two-year testing period at Williamson High School and Cowanesque High School.
Through the pilot program, students will have the opportunity to take their learner's permit knowledge test remotely at the school. The test will be given by a PennDOT-approved teacher using software that is specifically de
