When Kristen Hydinger moved to Erie in 2023, she noticed a need for a brick-and-mortar yarn shop.

She knew Erie had chain craft stores, including Michaels and Hobby Lobby , but she wanted the fiber crafting community to have its own space.

"I moved to Erie from Boston where there’s at least a dozen yarn shops," Hydinger said. "Each shop has its own flavor, specialty, customer base, but it’s also a community space for people ... and for staff who know what they are doing. Yes, you can get yarn at Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but the staff members don’t know patterns or can’t make recommendations or help if you make a mistake. So, that type of resource and knowledge I have."
