MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Pull out those winter coats, gloves, beanies, and scarves as Severe Weather Center 13 is tracking the first freeze of the season.
While it may not feel like winter this week with highs in the low to mid 70s, a very chilly air mass is headed towards the Mid-South.
As of Wednesday, this air mass is located over North and Central Canada.
As we head into the weekend, the jet stream, which dictates our weather pattern, will begin to buckle, allowing this bitterly cold air to spill southward, all the way to the Gulf Coast.
For Memphis and the Mid-South, that means a 20-degree temperature plunge between Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the 70s on Saturday, dropping to the 50s on Sunday.
By Monday morning, low temperatures will be at or below freezing, with winds gusting
