MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A former counselor who worked at 201 Poplar for less than a month said conditions inside the jail are so unsafe and unsanitary that she felt she had no choice but to quit.
The counselor, who spoke with FOX13 on the condition of anonymity, claims inmates are going days without basic needs, like water, and are living amid bugs, rats, and mold.
"It's actually horrible," the counselor said. "Sometimes they're sitting in chairs for days at a time before they're actually processed. You're most definitely going to see, like, bugs, rats, roaches."
FOX13 has been reporting for months on overcrowding and complaints about conditions inside the prison.
