Grumpy’s owner Pete Prekeges on Tuesday defeated property investor John Wigdale in the race to become Ketchum’s next mayor.
Prekeges won the race with 1,321 votes over Wigdale’s 302, according to unofficial Blaine County election results that will still need to be certified by the Board of County Commissioners during a November meeting.
Prekeges is set to be sworn in as mayor in January, taking over for Mayor Neil Bradshaw, who did not run for reelection.
“I am so excited to work with everyone on the new council,” Prekeges said in a call with the Express.
He said that one resident asked if he would hold a celebration.
In response, Prekeges said, “There’s victory and then work. And we have a lot of work to do what the voters wanted.”
