SPOKANE, Wash. – Ian C. Irizarry, 55, was sentenced today to life in prison without parole under Washington's "Three Strikes" law, the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
In March 2024, Irizarry was involved in a violent assault near the Spokane River. Testimony revealed he threatened to kill a man and then attacked him with a machete.
A co-defendant, who used a wooden fence post, later pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Assault. The victim suffered significant injuries. On October 9, 2025, a Spokane jury found Irizarry guilty of 2nd Degree Assault while armed.
Irizarry's previous conviction was for another 2nd Degree Assault in April 2021. The incident occurred in Downtown Spokane, where Irizarry attacked a sleeping man with a metal pipe and a knife. The victim was hospitalized wit
