BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) - Day 2 of the WVSSAC State Soccer Championships had all the drama.
Woodrow Wilson was looking to get back to the state championship, this time in AAAA. Morgantown was the only team standing in their way.
The Flying Eagles' Jonathan Scott opened the scoring after missing a penalty kick, that he followed up to make it 1-0. Coby Dillon added to the tally for Woodrow before half. Dylan Basconi extended the lead to 3 right out of halftime. Finally, Vince Umberger sealed the deal in Woodrow's 4-1 win over Morgantown.
"Morgantown came out with a good game plan. They put some pressure on us and they asked some questions of us. Once we figured out the way to solve the puzzle, I thought the guys did a really good job," said Flying Eagles head coach Steve Laraba.
