ST. LOUIS. (WILX) - Michigan State women’s soccer beat UCLA 2-1 in overtime in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals on Thursday night at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri.
Redshirt junior midfielder Emerson Sargeant scored both of the Spartans’ goals, first tying the game up in the second half and then winning it in overtime.
UCLA took a 1-0 lead on a strike to the bottom-left corner of the net by Emma Egizii in the 11th minute.
Michigan State tied the game in the 67th minute, with Kennedy Bell driving deep into the box and playing the ball back to Sargeant, who deposited it in the upper-right corner to tie it up.
The game headed to sudden-death overtime, and just over 10 seconds into the period, Sargeant fired a shot that beat the keeper but deflected off the post. In the 94th minute
